Detectable pens are compulsory workplace equipment, used primarily in food processing plants and the pharmaceutical industry - areas where HACCP procedures and foreign body control are in place. The loss of a standard, non-detectable pen or its components in a production area can result in a batch recall, which translates into increased costs for the plant and the possibility of a loss of reputation. Both the bodies and refills of the pens are made of detectable materials - plastic or 304 stainless steel.
